Interesting idea. The list will depend a lot upon the boat. Diesels don't need spark plugs. Dyneema rigging doesn't need bolt cutters... A boat with room for 50 tools on board is probably big enough to need 80.

Think best is to stay on basics, Diesel and no fancy dyeneema lol, maybe work on 40ft as base.

Re: 50 Must Have's

I found from personal experience that for any complex / new-to-you repair a 6 pack of beer is ESSENTIAL.
This allows you to take a logical first step--open a beer--and ponder if "attacking the problem" has the risk of doing more harm than good!
And if you decide to proceed, then sipping on the beer will help calm your nerves.

Re: 50 Must Have's

This is one of those weird "tell me everything I need to know" questions. If you don't know what tools you need in your tool bag, are you sure you know what to do when they're needed?

Honestly, no offense intended here. But if one were familiar with how to service and maintain the systems on their vessel, they'd have a good idea of what they need in their tool bag.

50 is a big list, start with basics.

Metric and SAE sockets
Metric and SAE combination (box and open) wrenches
-> ratcheting box are convenient

Multibit screwdriver/nutdriver
hose cutter
mini hacksaw
wire cutters
wire stripper
wire crimper
butane mini torch
large crescent wrench
cordless drill
drill bits (make sure they can drill metal)
telescoping mirror
needle nose pliers
hammer
tape measure
multi-meter
vice grips
hose removal tool
'fish tape' (small reel)
offset screwdriver set

I also carry a variety of sizes of electrical butt connectors, ring terminal and lug connectors.

I keep a tub with a lid for plumbing tools and spares. A tool box with a variety of small storage sections for electrical tools and supplies, and a toolbox for splicing tools and assorted stuff (thimbles, whipping line, needles, etc). Tool bag for generic tools.

Ninety nine bottles of beer. Fifty is too few.
