Yanmar 4JH2-DTE (1996 Beneteau 50) Impeller Plate

Just introduced myself to the forum. Newbie, clueless, tenacious.

I'm looking for advice regarding some issues a couple of new friends discovered.

A couple of new friends looked at my engine and said I need a new impeller plate. I'm at a loss for finding one. I would love suggestions. I have pdfs of both the parts catalog and owner's manual and while better than car manuals, Sure could use some advice on where to find a plate. I had the crazy idea of trying to get a machine shop to make one for me.

Any and all ideas gratefully received (except to tell me to give up and go home)

Many thanks!

Looking at my manual for the 4JH2 series, Figure 22, #3 (129470-42520) is the rear cover, and #5 (129573-42540) is the wear plate. I ordered all the parts to rebuild my old pump as a spare about 6 months ago without any problems. Any Yanmar distributor should be able to get them within days. As I remember, they weren’t notably expensive.

Not sure about that model cover-plate, but it may be reversible. Alternatively until you get a replacement and no machine shop available, you can take the old cover plate off and use a block of wood and 200grit wet and dry sand paper and and smooth the worn plate. Then use 800 grit to polish it up. It does not have to be perfect. If the O ring is in good condition the plate might last a while longer. I did this to one of our 3YM30 water pumps, so far has lasted over 100 hrs.
