Perkins m60 engine hours clock not working

Hi excuse me if I’m not in the correct forum.
This subject has been covered many times but I’m still unable to ascertain if hours clock power is from oil/alt lights on panel or relay on back of motor or possibly alternator .The taco works fine as does all other instruments, however if I motor for a considerable period 6 hours or more the battery light comes on.Is there a connection here I’m missing?? Can the clock be damaged or it is simply a power supply issue

Apply 12VDC directly to clock. If it runs, you have a power supply issue. If not, a clock issue.
