Perkins 6.354 Injectors

How often should injectors on a Perkins 6.354 be replaced? Are they normally replaced or are they serviced and reinstalled? What are the symptoms of them needing a service/replacement? Is the injector pump more likely to need a service or are they on the same time frame?

If I recall properly, the manual says 1000hrs on pump and tip rebuilds. We had out pump rebuilt once in 12000 hours and our injectors rebuilt twice in the same period.
Neither time was done out of need, I simply figured it was time.

New tips on the injectors will cost $80 - 95 each. The pump rebuild should cost around $1k
