That may be an OM636 which is a marinized Mercedes diesel.

Yes thank you for the confirmation...after posting I began looking at marinized German engines and came to the same conclusion.
The om636 don't seem to have a great reputation, which is odd because the MB 4 cyl diesel is not bad, but all things considered, the 5 cyl mechanical (turbo or non)diesel MB is the great one.
