Steering Cable Adjustment ?

I have quite a bit of slack in my twin cable steering system when setting up the backlash for the autopilot it reads around 35 degrees play before any steering action , so the pilot is constantly trying to compensate . This seems excessive to me ,is there a way to adjust this slack out of the steering system or cables ?

yes there is if you have a similar set up to mine you may find that the cable has come of what i call a idler pulley check that first and you should be able to adjust at the quadrant
