Re: New Lagoon 42 Vs Lucia-40 ?

I thought that it might be but wasn't completely sure. I wonder how durable wraps are in a saltwater environment.

Also, to clarify for Hightemp, the silver colored hull is a wrap, not the actual gel coat. I believe it is an $16,000 option from the factory (or there abouts).

Agree. My experience comparing prices across dealers is that many US dealers still think the US dollar is at 1.40 to the Euro. They have kept the old exchange rate pricing and now pass the "savings" to their pockets.

Re: New Lagoon 42 Vs Lucia-40 ?

I thought it was interesting the dealer in Houston sent me first all the info about putting a cat into charter (average last two years numbers) for the 450 but neglected to even put down the cost of the boat. I have to specify ask and only then was it given to me.

If your marketing an angle of charter ownership as incentive to buy. .why would you leave out the most important up front cost?

L42
The quote was for about everything under the sun. AC, Genset, Teak, Add. Solar, Washer, Radar, 2nd Plotter, Upgraded Engines, Code 0, Dinghy, etc...

€447k + €8500 delivery to St. Martin
€455,500 * 1.13 (conver. rate) = $514k USD.

This is basically retail pricing. Then they may have a small discount to get under $500k.

Harel Yachts. They have been very responsive (of course) so far.

Has anyone dealt with them?

Re: New Lagoon 42 Vs Lucia-40 ?

Lagoon does not let clients in the US purchase in Euro. I tried and was upset I could not do it. If you are buying either the 450 and above or above the 450, do not know which right now, you can.

However, the US dealers basically give a discount to make the boat competitive. Like a 25k package will be 5k etc . There is still a hedge vs. Euro, but it should be like at 1.15ish equivalent when comparing us and euro prices on the total cost of the boat.

Lagoon has a set of re sellers who purchase large number of boats for charter, these are different from the US dealer guys. You can tell because the charter guys can sell you a boat, but normally you take delivery outside of the US (like in the carrib) and then bring it in. Normal delivery points in the US are NY/NJ, MD, FL, etc.

Sorry, but I didn't quite get your meaning on this part.

Was your meaning that if one is interested in purchasing one of the larger models they will let you pay in Euros, but not for one of the smaller models?

Re: New Lagoon 42 Vs Lucia-40 ?

Thanks for the positive comments about our purchase of a Lucia 40. Every boat is a compromise as they say, and some times it's the little things that matter. Also, when we signed for the Lucia 40, the Lagoon 42 wasn't available. It seems we did the right thing for our budget and plans as FP have now sold over 80 Lucia 40s worldwide. We have sailed on an older Lagoon 421 and there were some aspects of the boat we didn't like. The Lagoon 42 has the mast support post in the middle of the saloon which for us was a turn off - petty maybe! If we wanted bigger, a Helia 44 would foot the bill nicely.

Yes. If you purchase the 450 or maybe now it is the 52, you can send E direct.

However, for a 42, in the US, you must purchase in USD.

The Lagoon 42 has a beam of 25' 3". Will I have a problem with haul out's in the Caribbean? I thought I saw somewhere where some lifts may max out at 25' beam.

I quite like the quote closer to $500K that was given before. Seems very much in line with what I'd be looking to spend for that type/size boat.

Re: New Lagoon 42 Vs Lucia-40 ?

The L39 has the same layout as the L42. There seems to be no love for the L39, but everyone is drooling for the L42.
Could this be
  • 'Cause the L39 came first and people had to get used to the new style?
  • People do Not prefer 39 foot size?
  • The 42 is perceived as the perfect length?
  • Do people shake their heads at L39 owners and say"Thats so Sad"
  • Would be a shame to buy a L39 and people feel sorry for you
  • What made the L42 the shiny thing and the L39 not?
Thanks
