First splash on 49-year-old Catamaran

Hi all,

Short version of the story so far: came to Trinidad and Tobago to purchase a 49-year-old catamaran. Named Foreigner, she is a Sailcraft Apache.

Seven months later, working every day on this beautiful old boat, with only a single day off, we splashed.

It's not often I see photos of older cats on CF, so here you go.

Cheers!

Great to see her back and ready to go. Well known boat here in the UK as she was once owned by the editor of Yachting Monthly magazine.

Thanks. Yes, a previous owner was indeed Mr Geoff Pack. On board, I still have many of the original magazines/articles from the time Geoff owned Foreigner, and some typed notes he prepared. It's fantastic to be able to read about the history/provenance of my own boat.

Cheers Chotu - I'm a long time lurker of your amazing exploits, you hooked me the first time I saw photos of your chainplates!

Up close, Foreigner still needs work to be Bristol, but phase one is complete and we have done enough to start enjoying her.

Beautiful! We owned a Cherokee 35 for 7 years and love the MacAlpine designs.

Rod certainly knew how to design a sleek looking cat!
