Buyer's Broker Croatia

Hi all!

I am looking for a buyer's Broker in Croatia. I have seen a Lagoon 440 there that I am interested in.

Is it true that the seller's Broker needs to split his commissions with the buyer's Broker? So I, as the buyer, need only pay the survey?

This will be my first boat, so all advise is welcome!

Thanks!

Re: Buyer's Broker Croatia

I have bought several boats including our current boat in Croatia and never used a buyers broker. However, I understand they can be useful in establishing the true VAT status etc. but have no idea how the commission thing works. If you are based in the UK I would recommend Multihull World Catamarans for sale, Trimarans for sale, new and used, trimaran sales, yacht sales, new & used catamarans, new & used trimarans, Brokerage, Broadblue, UK, Corsair Marine, folding trimarans, worldwide catamaran sales, prout, snowgoose, lagoon, dragonf as a broker, having bought and sold through them several times. However, you need to establish exactly what they will do for you so you can decide if that route is worthwhile.
My priority would be a really good surveyor who specialises in multihulls. When buying abroad I have used UK ones and paid their flights etc. They usually save many times their cost by reducing the price because of issues they identify.
I am sure you will get lots of other advice.

Thank you for taking the time to reply, very much appreciated!
Sounds like I will be contacting a UK based surveyor to check it out, the one you recommended.

I am an EU citizen (Dutch) but I do not reside there. I intend to take the, or another, boat outside the EU so I will not have any VAT issues. There is no VAT paid on that boat yet so I will register it in Gibraltar and then take it across the Atlantic.
Cheers!

Re: Buyer's Broker Croatia

Multihull World are UK based brokers for multihulls worldwide. They can probably provide a list of surveyors who specialise in multihulls.
You will need to establish how you can get the boat out of the EU without paying VAT on the way, I guess there is a way given the large number of boats sold ex VAT and exported from EU but do not know how. Perhaps someone can advise?
Good luck and keep us posted

Re: Buyer's Broker Croatia

if buying charter boat in croatia you pay attention to engines and maintenance schedule. Usually no big sails & less knowledgable crowd in general, mean motor working 95+ % of time.
