I prefer rum as it is easier to store large quantities of it, is cheaper than beer in some places in the Caribbean, and even if it's warm it still tastes good.

The hardest(most expensive) part is keeping it cold, fridges are a real draw on the battery bank. I found out that if I load my fridge up with beer, it draws less energy to stay cold. I end up drinking them and the fridge goes back to drawing a lot of energy again.

Beer in Panama is cheap, so we will be stocking up before hitting the frugal beer drinkers hell...French Polynesia....
