Interesting that FP named the Lipari a "41" when in fact its only 39x22 feet- about the same size as the Lavizzi/Athena -Orana 44 is really 43 feet & the Salina48 is 47 feet- I guess we feel like we have a bigger boat if we exaggerate its size- this way we feel better for spending so much money !

and the Leopard 39 is 37' 6", the Leopard 44 is 42' 7"

I'm sure it's the marketing types fault, engineers would call the Leopard 39 a 37.5!!!!

Not always. Privilege 435 is 44' 1". Most Privilege 465s are actually 49'

Here's an old review that says saildrive for the Athena, not sure about the other two.

Athena 38

Re: athena 38, mahe 36 or gemini 105c

We have a 2003 Athena thats been in charter in Croatia since new and does over 20 hard weeks of use per year. It's stood up to that pretty well, and judging by where the secondhand boats for sale are located around the world Athena's are clearly ocean capable as others have mentioned. Chartering requires tough boats that are reliable and easy to maintain and turnround otherwise you lose money. One surprising factor is that the people who maintain and operate our boat prefer the Athena compared to others including the more modern Lavezzi is because it has the engines inside the aft cabins it does not suffer the serious engine corrosion problems like those with those with outside access. Also, there much more room to access engines, calorifiers etc . The downside is that to do daily checks on the Athena you have to remove bedding, although we are working on a mod to improve this using gas struts to lift the entire bed intact. The operators also prefer Yanmar over Volvo having operated both.
