Anti-UV trampoline paint

A simple question:
1. If you painted yours, what paint did you use?
2. Would you use it again?

I have not done this myself, but have heard of people painting their polyester tramps with acrylic paint. You might try contacting West Coast Netting to see what they use on their netting as they offer it in white and several colors. I am still searching for a coating that will work on dyneema, but suspect I am doomed to disappointment.

Well, I was thinking someone might've tried Yale Maxijacket, and wanted to see how much it marks whatever white pants come in contact with it.

And maybe find tip on getting a gallon of it cheap...

You mean just the external house paint?
And it did not flake and peel under stretch?

Yes, the house paint.
No, it has not flaked. It rather was absorbed into the fibres of the netting, actually. The nice thing about Dyneema netting is that it doesn't stretch (or not much). I expect the failure mode will involve chalking, whenever that happens.

Net paint is merely latex paint, as best I can tell, so why not?

My nets are looking good still and are 21 years old. They have spent a fair bit of time in the tropics and where I live they get a fair bit of nasty sun in the summer (NSW Australia). I keep a good eye on them and they are still in good nick.

On my previous boat I replaced nets 3 times in 7 years. I use black cod end fishing nets. Black is better at reflecting or dealing with UV. I would suggest anyone buy black nets if possible to avoid needing to paint them.

I like Cod end too. Easy to tie and hold onto, economical and strong as well.

In looking for anti-UV and chafe coating for my synthetic standing rigging, the biggest discovery was TrueKote CS 100. It seems perfect:


Chemline, the manufacturer of TrueKote CS 100, has a $1,000 minimum order for new customers. That works out to about 6 gallons.

I think I’d only need 1-3 gallons (may do the trampoline nets with it too). So need 1-3 others to split the order.

Thanks, I may give that a try. My Net Systems Dyneema nets are 5 years old now and the coating they came with is mostly gone.

I’m going to try rolling on my F31 tramps Inland Marine Topside Paint which is used to restore inflatable boats. Highly flexible and UV resistant. I’ve used the product on an inflatable and it’s great. In fact, I’m considering using a coating of that on my new inflatable in lieu of chaps.

i am painting my dyneema with latex paint i got $3 a can because they discount the paint they mixed wrong

i cant say it's ideal but I figure it will protect the rope from the uv at least somewhat.
