Yacht Dodger

Hi
Im looking for a marine trimmer in the Pittwater Area NSW.
Can anyone recommend a trimmer to build a new dodger from scratch including frame.
Ideally reasonably priced and reliable.
Thanks Woody

Woody, the terms "Pittwater" and "reasonably priced" and "reliable" are not compatible. I wish you luck, but hold little hope that such a person exists... there are some highly skilled folks practicing in the area, but the good ones are not cheap and tend to be overbooked, resulting in poor reliability.

FWIW, I had my dodger repaired by Scott Sails, and the work was good... but far from inexpensive. Don't know if he does new builds.

Don't know how it works in NSW, but around here, if you say it's for a "yacht," price is 2-3x what it would be for the same item intended for a "boat."

Part of what you can negotiate is whether or not you require marina space for the job. When Scott Sails replaced our dodger windows, we met at a public pier north of the MYC (Salt Pan Cove, iirc) to remove the dodger, and again to re-install it. You could do the same if you have plenty of time to spend that way; otherwise, better to find a guest slip with shore access for whomever you hire to access your boat.

It will cost about what an 8 - 10 yr. old Asian built economy car costs...or more.
