Which Tiller Pilot for Me ?

Quick question for the brain trust. I'm going to replace my ah800 tiller pilot. Goes on my Catalina 27. I'm wondering should I purchase the st1000 or spend the extra $$ for the st2000??? The old 800 worked fine but seemed to use a goodly bit of electric. I sail in the Pacific Northwest out of Whidbey Island. Mostly will use it for handling sails and to take a few moments to do the odd job. As a retiree, I'm cost concious but not unwilling to spend the money if it appears justified. Any andall advisce is appreciated.

Tiller Pilot

I use a ST1000 on my Haida 26, Should work fine on a Catalina 27. If you have the $ wouldn't hurt to have more power. The ST2000 is a little quicker on responce is all.

Thanks for the input. Weighed it all out and decided to go with the st2000. By the way, I ordered it through West Marine in Anacortes. The list price was $569.95. I advised them that it was listed for $549.95 by a company in Charlotte, N.C. They never batted an eye and said fine, we'll match that. Again; thanks for the replies, fair winds!

The more powerful the better...nice to have it work in a gale...but the key is always sail balance to reduce the workload.
