Pictures sometimes lie but she looks like a diamond. Beautiful condition for her age and she's a real sailboat that will take you anywhere you care to go. Congratulations.!!

Re: Thoughts on a 1962 Columbia 29

Looks like you got yourself a nice boat...Reminds me of my Tartan 27...It was made S&S after all...Look over your Atomic 4 and make sure she gets the attention she needs before you put her out this summer...I am in the process of getting my A4 ready for my first sailing season in the hopes she will provide a trouble free season...Great thing about the A4's is there's plenty of info out there on them, they're easy to deal with, and they're indestructible if treated right...

That C29 should provide plenty of sea worthiness...more so than newer (70s & 80s built) builds...

Re: Thoughts on a 1962 Columbia 29

Get on the Yahoo Groups for Columbia boats. Many there active. VERY MUCH the wealth of information on it. A couple guys actually used to work at the building facility. Get teh info from teh people who actually have them, refit them, and SAIL THEM! No hearsay.. No secondary info. Right from the horse's mouth, as it were. Good luck

Re: Thoughts on a 1962 Columbia 29

Someone should remove the For Sale listing. I wasted time researching this boat only to find on this thread you had already bought it! Just curious, why did they increase the ballast by 1000 (yikes) pounds on the later year models? Maybe you could give rides below deck to that poor 700 pound Sumo wrestler that is having trouble getting an airline ticket? She seems like an awful lot of boat for the money.

Re: Thoughts on a 1962 Columbia 29

I believe the boat is still for sale, unless the boat has sold, which I'm not aware of. If you send the OP a message, I'm sure he'll get back with you one way or the other. It looks like he is still on here quite frequently.

Azul,
Thanks for your ideas. Yes this fine sailboat is still for sale. Have you ever thought about giving up sailing and trying to be a standup comedian?

Re: Thoughts on a 1962 Columbia 29

Have you checked out the Yahoo Groups yet?

columbiasailingyachts : Columbia Sailing Yachts

Here is the link. LA the info you could ever want about it, and reapirs. Cpt'n Pauley Esterle writes for the mags, and is on this group. His site has a lot of info on upgrading this boat.
YOu can lead a sailor to the bay, but you can't make him loose the docklines and go sailing....

Re: Thoughts on a 1962 Columbia 29

Hey, any words on this 1962 Columbia 29? I recently bought a 1964 Columbia 29, and I'm looking for some compadres that know a little about this boat! I'd love to see some pics of her! I'm gonna have mine hauled out next week for a bottom job and a blue/gold paint job. VERY excited!
