Some have serious osmosis, some have slight.

Is it really something to worry about? Do all fiberglass / GRP boat hulls get it eventually, or are some boats built better than others?
I would say all depends on the maker of the boat and if previous owners took care of the bottom. I have an 83 Dickerson Ketch. Took the bottom down to bare glass 19 yrs ago. Did 2 coats of epoxy barrier coat, had it looked at a couple of yrs back during insurance survey, no issues. Dickerson's are built like tanks.

LOL, I have a 50 year old Morgan OI36. If osmosis was going to sink her I believe it would have by now,I have found the odd blister over the years (17), a grinder and some epoxy filler quickly fixed them. She will probably outlive me.

If after 30 or 40 years it doesn't have serious osmosis then you should be fine for the next 30 years. A few small blisters to repair at each bottom job is a non issue regardless of boat age.

Re: OSMOSIS - Do all boats get it? Or just a few?

I’m still interested in the fresh vs saltwater and Osmosis so I did a bit of browsing and it seems fresh might be worse....... here’s a post from a forum from some years ago from a Norwegian which probably relates to my boat ( built in Norway, fibreglass hull)[ATTACH]262553
