New Member with ???

New member here it will take some time to digest the entire post. Ill cut the chase My buddy and I purchased a Catalina 27. It needs some work but my biggest concern is the boat has shifted on the cradle[which is in my back yard]
1 the boat looks like it could be further forward?
2 the pads are further under the right side[ keel is not in the center]
3 does most of the weight belong on the keel
4 the keel is in full contact of the wood base if the boat was moved forward the contact area would be towards the rear section of the keel due to the angle from the leading edge.

I have made some new pads and plan on installing them to in crease the surface area on the boat. Right now I have one on the rt rear that is creating a depression on the bottom of the boat and I don't want the glass to develop a memory. Here a couple of pics before we moved it. Il post some more when I get the camera up and running. Thanks Brad
Any input would be appreciated.

Welcome aboard gasngo. The boat should be sitting on the keel. The stands are only used to balance the boat. The keel is designed to take the weight.

Re: New Member with ???

Thanks for the reply. We have been outside working on this issue. I managed to get things adjusted with multiple floor jacks and a winch. A slow careful process but affective. Replaced the rear pads with new wood, carpet and new hardware. Fronts are next. Running out of daylight. I should have things in order by the weekend. Then pull the Atomic 4 apart and figure out the whats wrong. From there teak, wiring and ??? Ill post pics as we go.

If you need help with that old venerable A-4, check out MoyerMarine.com. They are everything and anything with the A-4, including forums. I have 2 A-4's and about to swap out the one in my 1978 Ranger 28.

Re: New Member with ???

Thanks I hear Moyer is the place to go. Im a mechanic by trade so the motor will not be a issue as long as its not a total basket case. Which I dont think so. Im really looking forward to getting this rig on the water. I hope a couple months and we will be on the water in Corpus Christi after that maybe Port A if we can get a slip. [waiting list]

Thanks Skipr I think we did well. Just the 18,000 btu AC alone was worth it. Sails are good and for he most part the boat is solid. Just need to get balanced on the cradle then we can proceed with the facelift.
