Need help Identifying the boat I have:(

Sorry about the Snow. Just picked the boat up and a snow storm hit.
I was told it is a Hughes 22 but can find any information that matches the Hull
Once I get locks off cabin I’ll post more pics.

Thanks
J

Nice trailer, but it does not appear to be a Hughes 22: https://sailboatdata.com/sailboat/hughes-22/

Re: Need help Identifying the boat I have:(

The Hughes 22 was built by Hughes Boat Works, starting in 1971, subsequently was also sold as the North Star 22 and then the Hullmaster 22. Evidently, they did make a fin keel version.

I agree; that doesn't look like a Hughes 22.

Hi, Jazzer. to the forum and congratulations on your new boat!
Often there is a hull identification number etched into the transom. If you can find that, you can get some details on your boat via a HIN decoder, like https://hindecoder.com/

To be honest it looks very similar to the Hurley 22 but the rudder is shorter and the portlight is wrong.. mind you that does not mean it's not been modified.

I dunno... the keel shape is all different and the rudder too. Pretty easy to change deck mouldings but basic keel configuration is a bit harder.

Big mystery! Hope someone pops in with the answer.

Me also. It’s got a Mounting crack along the keel. Sure be nice with manual or maintenance list for this thing.

Re: Need help Identifying the boat I have:(

I’m guessing it is a Hughes
Saw a picture of an H29 that has the exact keel.

Re: Need help Identifying the boat I have:(

The HIN number is the key to positive identification. It's normally on the starboard side of the stern. Otherwise look at the previous owners registration / title that you get in the sale. The HIN should be in those documents. You'll need it to prove clear title when you go to register the boat. JMHO

Re: Need help Identifying the boat I have:(

There's also a skeg on the subject boat, which the Hughes does not have. Keep looking. Can we get actual dimensions (loa, beam, draft)? That might help.

Re: Need help Identifying the boat I have:(

I have got inside finally and might not be using this boat, after seeing the size of Cabin.
I do have a CS 22 that has almost twice the Cabin size.
Better for taking a guest or 2 for weekend getaway.
Hope Granddaughters don’t get motion sickness
I still need to find what exactly the boat is and refit if it is so rare.
