Danny...What you want to do sounds entirely reasonable to me as long as you are watching the
weather carefully and can move quickly if something looks like it is developing. We were there for Ivan and friends who were there for Emily said that it was not bad in Southern
Grenada as it mostly affected the north and Cariacou.
I believe the 1964
Hurricane Flore was the same and the last real
hurricane to affect southern
Grenada before Ivan was Janet in 1954.
On the hard storage has been greatly improved to withstand direct hits there since Ivan...and of course Trinidad is only 80 miles away. Personally...if I had to do it over...I would do an overnighter to Trinidad if I were anywhere in the projected path cone in Grenada 3 days out from a named storm. Despite Ivan...I really think that Grenada is as safe as the Chesapeake during hurricane season as long as you don't get complacent.
