Hull ID Number - Then what?

Ok, here's the scoop. We have a donation of a boat and we're trying to find out what it is. I have the hull number which is either AF3KFO37WN78L or AF3KF037WN78L but when trying to find out the manufacturer or anything else about the boat the websites want to charge an arm or a leg to get any information. I thought all I needed to do was give a serial number and at least one site would come back with a manufacturer's name.

It's a little 11 or 12 foot sloop. Kind of looks like a Widgeon.

Anyone out there who can help?

look at the website hindecoder.com - should give you free lookup. You cand decode at: HIN Search User Guide or at the US Coast Guard site

This site worked for me but it says that the HIN you provided is invalid.

Free HIN number Decoder for any Boat, Hull, or Vessel.

Re: Hull ID Number - Then what?

I'll check to see if it could be a state registration for a homebuilt here in Hawaii. I don't have a photo but can get one the next time I go down to the beach. It looks like a Widgeon so it might be.

Thanks for your help.
