My wife and I chartered a Freedom 35 in the
BVI for two weeks a few years ago, while trying to decide what to buy for a
liveaboard. It
sails very well, and the self tacking
jib was nice for my wife, who then only had to worry about the main. The berths are small. Not a lot of room below. We took a run for St. Croix but turned back after about two hours into 8-10 foot seas, which she took very well.
We looked at a lot of boats, narrowed down to a
Tayana 37, then looked at a lot of them. Picked one that had one owner, was extremely clean and well maintained. Could not have been happier. Sailed for two years around the
east coast and
Florida and
sold it for more than we paid, and went back to
work.
