Hello, I just purchased a 1973 DeVisser 42 (Britton Chance design) She is in good shape but needs some
maintenance. I was happy to find that the systems still
work (at least the electrical). She has been in a yacht yard for the last six years. She was built for open ocean
racing but has comfortable accommodations. My plan is to
refit her and go cruising. According to all the information I have found so far there were only 8 ever built and only two of those with cabins (mine being one of them). Does anyone out there know anything about these boats? I can't find any information on the web, but would like to know as much as possible. The previous owner sailed her in Lake Michigan and did the Mac
race with the
boat many times. The
boat was also in the
movie "The Jackal" with Bruce Willis. It can also be seen on "YouTube" at 'sailboat named thunder on Lake Michigan'. However, aside from the few minutes of film time, and the pictures of the boat on
Google, I can not find any information.
