CAL 39

Just moved up from a CAL 25 (a wonderful boat that I now have to find a new home for) to a CAL 39. Would like to connect with others to share information and experiences.

Which model/year did you get? There were about 4 versions built even without counting tall mast and shoal draft options.

Re: CAL 39

I had a 1988 Cal-39. Wat different than the earlier versions. But if yours is a match ask away.

Re: CAL 39

It is a 1984 Mark III, deep draft, not tall mast

OK, maybe I'm showing my sailing noobieness but isn't the whole point of deep draft to be able to counter a taller mast? That seems like a very strange combination isn't it?

Re: CAL 39

Papakina...I own a 1984 Cal 39. Tall mast, 6'8" fin keel, fitted for cruising. Currently in Hampton, Va and planning on going to Carribean as soon as I get a fuel leak fixed. PM me and we can exchange lies and war stories. Jim

Not if you want a stiff boat.

Re: CAL 39

We also have a 1984 Cal 39 MK.111.
She is std. rig and 5' 6'' draft. Just bought last winter in Westport, Conn. and sailed back to Nova Scotia in late May.
Love the boat!!!! Great summer learning the boat and look forward to heading south in 1.5 years.
I would be happy to offer any comments if you wish.
