Broken deck hatch part needed

Hi, Salty People.

I am needing help sourcing a replacement part for a deck hatch. It's on the exterior, the mushroom-shaped cap that the hatch dog handle is screwed into.

It's not a Bomar. It might be a Lewmar, but it's from the 70's, and is unlike newer versions that are available.

I've tried gluing, with three different adhesives, all of which failed. There's a good deal of pressure on it when the hatch is secured. I'd love to hear your ideas for a remedy.

Have a machine shop make you up an aluminum one, maybe even s/s. The plastics give up with the passage of time.
