Re: Delivery Skipper: Qualified and Experienced

Hello

Looking for Captain services hopefully by May or later this year as I'm preparing my 45 Gulfstar Hirsch for sail up the Caribbean islands to Florida, Stuart area, eventually. She's been getting major work done on her (Last 3 years) and seeing light at the end of the tunnel to get her splashed. Currently, she's been sitting on the hard in Trinidad when I acquired her 3 years ago. I'm new to this boat and don't have full confidence or experience yet to sail her on my own. I live onboard several months of the year to oversight work on my budget. She's on schedule for new rigging, has new sails, new navigation equipment in the works for installation as is electrical work for all electronics, solar panels, and boat systems off shore and onshore. She's been re-plummed for sinks and waterworks. The engine has been fully overhauled, and more things to list that's been done.....needless to say a lot of TLC work has been done on her to bring her back. Really want to get her sailing this year.

With that said, your credentials were impressive, and thought you could give me some ideas to your charges and keep in touch as time gets closer to actually put her in the water to go.

Planning ahead, and look forward to your response.

Regards,

Lyn

Re: Delivery Skipper: Qualified and Experienced

Looking for price to bring 45 foot Jeanneau sailboat from Ft. Pierce to Beaufort NC. around early April 2020. Currently getting bottom painted, new sails and rigging and will be back in water next Friday. We brought boat down from our marina on the Chesapeake and planned to return it going on outside to Beaufort and then ICW to Herrington Harbor in MD. We flew home for the week while it is being painted and now because of our age and risk factor I don't want my husband on a plane and our crew is stuck in Europe.

Re: Delivery Skipper: Qualified and Experienced

Just curious if international delivery is even possible right now? I have been in the market for a new boat for a while and feel like currently looking outside the US might be impossible. Many good options in the med, but not sure I can get there.Or get it delivered. What are your thoughts?

Re: Delivery Skipper: Qualified and Experienced

Hi
We are an Australian family who had to abruptly leave our new boat in GRENADA during the outbreak of COVID 19 and we are looking for a delivery captain and crew to take her to ARUBA before the start of the hurricane season. We were in the process of delivery her home to her home port of Brisbane but had to abandon our new boat, because my daughter has respiratory weakness issues and we didn’t want to take a chance. We are now in Australia, and we want out boat removed from GRENADA and the threat of hurricanes, taken to ARUBA.

Given the current situation with border closures in Grenada and the Eastern Caribbean generally, we need a skipper who is ALREADY DELIVERING A BOAT TO GRENADA (for instance for storage during the hurricane season) under the upcoming proposed inter–island open border scheme.

The job would hopefully tack onto the heels of an existing delivery job to Grenada. From Aruba it is an easy flight back to the US. Aruba is said to be opening its borders in mid-June to beginning of July.

We want out boat in 9N Aruba well out of harm’s way for the hurricane season and in a place which is open to international travellers. We can then arrange to fly into Aruba and pick her up when the travel situation evolves more.

We have a Lagoon 45F, brand new, with a bimini top on the flybridge, and all the bells and whistles. It is a difficult time at the moment and hard to organise getting our boat to a place where we can pick her up. This is our best option.

I look forward to your reply, we are trying to get this all organised fairly quickly.

The key is if you already have a captain due to enter Grenada with a boat going into storage – or an ability to get onto one of the many thousands of boats set to sail down to Grenada when the MAYAG organisation allows entry.

Many thanks

Craig Sparks

Re: Delivery Skipper: Qualified and Experienced

Hello. I wish you were sending this note from New Zealand! I have a Boreal 47 newly purchased sitting where I cannot fly to. So I need the boat sailed either to Hawaii or all the way to Vancouver, British Columbia

Would you know of a skipper in NZ?
Many thanks,
Neil

Re: Delivery Skipper: Qualified and Experienced

Thanks again.

BTW, My fathers cousin, Captain Dudley T. Goodhugh was in the RN. Started as a gunner in '42 and worked his way up to take command of the HMS Tiger August 1971 and April 1973, stationed in the Med near Rome as I recall. He went on to become an envoy of some sort.

Thought you would find that interesting..

Niel

Thanks for the story - yes, that’s very interesting: My father served in HMS TIGER in 1960 out of Malta and my elder brother was christened on board TIGER - so his name was engraved on the ships bell!

Small world
