Westward bound

Hi all,
Heading out of Blaine in NW Washington State this coming Friday with the intent of arriving in Oahu second week of July. This includes a passage through the San Juan Islands - most likely along the west side of San Juan and Orcas - and then out the Jan Juan De Fuca via Port Angeles. Has anyone out there had recent experience with that route / passage and any wisdom that you'd be able to impart? Also, for the pacific crossing, we note that the pacific high is, well, low in a latitude perspective - would someone know about where we should begin to travel more westerly? Thanks! Excited for our crossing!
