windpilot pacific control lines

Hello everyone, I hope you all are safe and well. I am in the process of installing a windpilot pacific model on a aft cockpit boat with pedestal steering. I'm wondering if there are other out there with the same setup that can share pictures or diagrams of how their control lines were run to the binnacle.

Well, Aries makes these wonderful universal blocks that let the sheaves change their angles within the housing. I used one on the transom, the lines lead to a second at the aft end of the starboard cockpit bench and a third directly athwartship from the wheel.

I have snap shackles and rings to allow me to break the lines into three sections, so they can be put out of the way when not using the wind vane.

I haven't seen anything like these universal blocks anywhere else.

Here we go - pics attached. I use the block attached to the port coving handrail to adjust for the right tension in the lines after attaching to the steering drum (green/white) lines. When not using the Windpilot the steering drum lines are wound around the drum and lashed together with some light cord.

the stbd block on the crossbar of the WP with rope-angle~150* is quite highly loaded & had tobe replaced by a 50mm BB block. Better solution: lead ropes to wheel from both sides (wasn't possible in our case)
Our installation brought with it comparatively high loads on the lines, as the wheel was so large & had only +1,33 turns lock-lock - would have done better with a considerably larger wheeldrum, but worked ok as it was. Crossbar on WP had to be tied down as due to the forces on the lines it tended to be moved forward no matter how hard we clamped.

For the setup of Wieketih (the two lines coming from the same side to the steering wheel) the best/easiest sollution is to add this rod (it is hard to see on his picture). At first site it was not clear to me what its function was. (It is a screenshot from the manual you can download from their site.)
