He's just another in the long list of 'Captain Calamities' around the world.. we have our fair share in the UK.. In the early 2000's there was an American who managed 14 rescues as he made his way along the S Coast.. not to long ago there were two guys who bought an old timber boat and kept having to be rescued down the W Coast.. terminating in them setting fire to the boat because they left an oil lamp or something burning and the boat fell over when the tide went out.
Then we have the home grown idiots a plenty..
But hell.. if they weren't idiots at sea they'd be idiots on a mountain or something else.. Darwin's Law casts a wide net.

Yet all of these idiots continue to go to sea and survive...Darwin didnt factor in SAR...which is in some cases bad for the gene pool.

Always remember that about one half of the world's people have IQs of less than 100...

Including those that go to sea??? Maybe... most land lubbers would say that the decision to go to sea is an indicator of belonging to the lower half!

Going to sea is the reason to get away from the lower half.

Just found it. He posted a FB photo of the Vietnamese fishermen who "Saved his life"
Apparently lost the boat.

Please everybody, do not donate another one.

Re: Rimas 2nd circumnavigation attempt off Fiji

As usual, details are sketchy. He reported on Facebook that his boat was sunk:

Quote:
500 km before the storm hit the boat, with a huge Big Bang when I'm drinking coffee, after that the water came inside boat. Later I was pushed to china sea near Hong Kong. and my ship was sank here
Yet also reported that he was docked in Vietnam.

Quote:
Sailing around the world will be continued when I am back to America. My boat was hit by a storm near Yokohama Japan and now i'm docking at da bang city in Vietnam at Tiensa hotel.
Local media says that he was brought in by fishermen.

Re: Rimas 2nd circumnavigation attempt off Fiji

This guy has got more lives than a cat...he has beat the odds yet again!

Though I do think a world wide SAR ban for Rimas would be appropriate...especially given that he would likely survive anyway. 😆
