Racing at Dun Laoghaire

Pretty challenging conditions at Dun Laoghaire today. Some big trimarans racing in Scotsman Bay, went horribly wrong for the "Spindrift" which capsized minutes after the race start.
One crew airlifted to hospital, so here is hoping it is nothing too serious.

Re: Racing at Dun Laoghaire

Exciting place, Dun Laoghaire. Last time we put in there it was following a 50-knot rainsquall. We rescued a man and his two children who'd been out fishing in a rowboat. They were about 5 miles offshore and getting blown towards Liverpool despite the man's frantic efforts at the oars. The RDYC was not pleased to have a visiting American yacht depositing wet non-members on its docks, so we went to Howth the next day. Much calmer, if you can put up with the compass swinging all over because of the chains lining the harbor.
