Another suggestion...

Ever considered purchasing a boat in the charter industry?

Depending upon the company you work with, you can "purchase" a boat and the company does the work of maintaining it, chartering it, etc. You get a certain amount of time on your boat each year, or you can visit some/any of their charter fleets and use a boat for bareboating. At the end of your boat mortgage, you own a somewhat worn-out boat in need of repairs/upgrades but usually still in reasonably good condition - probably good enough to bring it home and sell for a reasonable profit.

Just an idea I haven't personally tried, but sounds like it would suit your circumstances very nicely.
