No, it has interior door(s) and a non-plastic interior.

I'll have to disagree with the riff raft that think yacht clubs are named as such to appear hi-falutin. In Canada, where you will find some of the oldest yacht clubs. They are named as such because the members can't afford to go to a marina. Yacht clubs are for the most part cheap marinas. Most yacht clubs I've seen are run down and lack the money a marina has. They were mostly started by a bunch of ex service navy types looking to get on the water for little money as their salaries and or pensions didn't allow them to afford the nice toys they had while in service.

Marinas are private pay as you go establishments but Yacht Clubs are member owned volunteer based and your participation in its upkeep is usually expected.

So you see yacht doesn't mean hifalutin or pretentious.

Re: Is it a Boat or a Yacht?

A yacht is someone else's boat. Your boat is a boat. It is not good boating manors to ever call your own boat a yacht! Unless of course, you think that it will help you get lucky with her, especially if she's a gold digger.

Re: Is it a Boat or a Yacht?

I think technically, a yacht is a pleasure boat either sail or motor. What distinguishes a yacht from a boat is the yacht was meant for living in, in that it has a galley and head in adition to sleeping quarters. This is a very loose definition. Example: The MacGregor 26 is built by the MacGregor Yacht Corporation.
That is a common technical definition which vastly differs with the general public's perception of a yacht. When people ask what size is my boat and I say 39' sailboat, they usually reply with "Oh, you have a yacht". My response is always nooooooooo, Donald Trump has a yacht, Tony B has an old boat.

I love it when people consult the dictionary. Nothing better to answer questions about terms.
kind regards,

Thurston Howell III had a yacht but he went on the SS Minnow which was not a yacht. I could never figure that out.

The Minnow was described as both a "ship" and a "tiny ship."

Dead on! I think this is the best definition I'll ever find.

from wiki:

A yacht /ˈjɒt/ is a recreational boat or ship. The term originated from the Dutch Jacht meaning "hunt". It was originally defined as a light fast sailing vessel used by the Dutch navy to pursue pirates and other transgressors around and into the shallow waters of the Low Countries. After its selection by Charles II of England as the vessel of choice to return to Britain from Holland for his restoration, it came to be used to mean a vessel used to convey important persons.
In modern use the term designates two rather different classes of watercraft, sailing and power boats. Yachts are different from working ships mainly by their leisure purpose, and it was not until the rise of the steamboat and other types of powerboat that sailing vessels in general came to be perceived as luxury, or recreational vessels. Later the term came to encompass motor boats for primarily private pleasure purposes as well.
Yacht lengths generally range from 8 metres (26 ft) up to dozens of metres (hundreds of feet). A luxury craft smaller than 12 metres (39 ft) is more commonly called a cabin cruiser or simply "cruisers." A mega yacht generally refers to any yacht (sail or power) above 30 m (98 ft) and a super yacht generally refers to any yacht over 60 metres (197 ft). This size is small in relation to typical cruise liners and oil tankers.

Either you or they forgot mega yachts (300ft) and the, omg giga yachts (700ft)

Re: Is it a Boat or a Yacht?

YACHTING magazine has an article this month "100 Largest Private Yachts". I think the number one spot was 534' long, can't remember the name of it. Isn't poverty terrible!

Re: Is it a Boat or a Yacht?

If I remember correctly, a one week charter on the number 1 largest yacht was $2 mill per week.

Well, I don't fend off with a yacht hook, I know that much.

To the tax assessor, it's a boat.

If there is Seagull poop on it, it's a boat. if not, it may be a yacht.
