Re: Four Sailors Rescued off North Carolina

It seems that it's all just speculation right now. Those can be nasty waters this time of year. Too bad about the vessel, but glad all are ok.

Well, if anyone comes across the real story of what happened, I hope they will post it here so we can all learn from their experience.

That is absolutly true. And being so far offshore is not a bad idea in the area of the Outer Banks, considering the Cape effect on wind and the shallow waters closer to shore.
What surprise me is the fact that this large sailboat was so feable in front of this not unmanageable weather. I would have expected more from this kind of boat. And it is not the only one. In fact what is so scary is the regularity of this kind of misfortune in bad weather for modern, cheap big production sailboats...

Re: Four Sailors Rescued off North Carolina

There are many details missing from the reports Ive seen but it seems unwise to cross the gulfstream this time of year going from Annapolis to Miami.
