Sailing was awesome today! Perfect
weather for me about 12-15 knots.
I departed from the
dock on my own and i returned to the
dock and backed it in. Super cool. I was also able to learn and witness when another student was approaching the dock and how with us newbies things can just go wrong. I felt for him but also learned from it.
Did some COB maneuvers which went surprisingly well. Didn't lose a
single crew
member today. Picked the buoy up with a figure eight approach. I am surprised about how quick you can lose sight of anything in the
water and how you can steer a sailboat to an exact point like a car with the proper techniques.
Practiced tacking which I seemed to be a little retarded on when at the
helm. I don't turn fast enough and far enough. But I got better and was at least facing towards the bow and passing tiller behind me and crossing over to other side when the boom is approaching the center. So I must practice this. Again and again......
The test was about 75-80 questions. I got a 98%. One silly question I missed. Oh well. I will continue to jump on sailboat for practice whenever possible.
