I am very new to using any sort of routing app. I am mostly a coastal cruiser, used to looking at specific local forecasts, NOAA
radar,
weather buoys and making a go / no-go decision. I've seen a few recommendations for an app called "BlueWater Racing"
https://www.bluewaterracing.com
Price is right for someone just looking to learn (donations)... and it's PC based which is my preference right now while i'm stuck ashore just looking for something to learn / play with.
Question:
Am I correct in thinking this app is basically defunct / abandoned given it's limitation in loading only grib formats (not Grib2) - at least as far as viewing wx GFS data is concerned?
Blue Water Racing - Help - Weather ... mentions a few 3rd party grib providers such as saildocs etc. Saildocs seems to simply relay NOAA GFS data via
email of course, this all seems to be grib2 and not supported.
Just curious... anyone on this forum using
Blue Water Racing for routing +
weather and surface condition information and if so, why am I having such a difficult time finding any grid based data it can actually read/play with? Point me in the right direction? Reading? Videos?
Perhaps I should direct my attention towards a different app. Maybe
OpenCPN with a weather
plugin?
