Looking for inexpensive ways to get from Nassau to Chub Cay. Can anyone make recommendation?

Thanks

Excellent idea, but we will be in Chub and family flying into Nassau. Hoping to avoid the airlines....way too expensive. Hoping to find something on the water, but no luck with google search.

Nothing goes to Chub except private planes or charters. Why not go to Nassau? It's a short trip and generally a good sail. Good fishing too. If you want to sail the Berrys you can come back.

The “Bimini Mack” (Mail Boat) goes from Nassau to Cat Cay & Bimini (departs Nassau Mondays & Thursdays, fare $45).

The “Captain Gurth Dean” goes from Nassau to the Abacos (departs Sundays & Fridays , fare $45).

Perhaps one of them will stop in Chub?

Check with the Dockmaster's office in Nassau:
Tel: (242) 393-1064 ~or~ (242) 326-7354
Fax: (242) 322-5545

As Rick notes, it’s an easy (<40 nm) sail between Chub & Nassau.

Thanks for that info!!!! I'll check with them.

I realize that getting from Chub to Nassau might be a very nice trip, but if someone comes to visit us, I prefer to let them come to us, instead of vise versa. I'll gladly pay their fare, to avoid the "we have to be in XYZ on the 15th". I'm in the Bahamas NOT to be on a schedule. They will be lucky if we're actually in Chub <w> Besides, it's my wife's relatives!!

We have had guests while in the Bahamas but never agree to meet them somewhere. We call them when we're somewhere and they can arrange to get there. We'll sit at anchor and wait. But Roger, Nassau is only eight hours at the most from Chub and it might be better for your guests to sit in Nassau and wait for you to get there. A night in a hotel would be cheaper than getting to Chub.

Guests of ours have used small planes to get from Nassau to the Exumas - not very expensive (2 years ago it was about $80 per person from Staniel Cay back to Nassau). I assume they would fly in and out of Chub as well.

If you're interested in this, check with Harry Nixon - 242.357.0807, the pilot we have used in the past. There are other pilots as well who perform this service.

We met some cruisers who thought the service was unreliable, but they picked up our visitors pretty much right on schedule and delivered them to the Nassau airport in time to make their afternoon flight back to the U.S.
