Fuel Burn

Heading down island from North Sound in my IP 370 for the first time. Was wondering if anyone has an idea of my fuel consumption rate for my Yanmar 54hp diesel. I carry 75 gallons in the tank.

Re: Fuel Burn

The common rules of thumb are about 0.25 litres per hour per HP or 1 US Gallon per hour per 20 HP.

HP primarily depends on RPM.

Very roughly for your 54 HP engine:

At 80% of max RPM - about 28 HP, so about 1.5 GPH
At 60% of max RPM - about 12 HP so about 0.6 GPH
