Sardinia Charter

Heading to Sardinia mid-September and keen to hear from anyone who might be able to advise on a nice location to cruise (we fly to Alghero).

We're planning to charter something around 30', there are just two aboard, so prefer an area with manageable conditions. We would like an area that has nice coves & beaches, and also some options for good eating - local, not too touristy. Not asking much?!

Any recommendations for good charter companies would also be gratefully received!

Thanks a mil.
Shane

Hi Shane I was there in may and June. If I were you I would look at chartering from one of the companies in St Theresa di gallura Marina. Forget about renting in alghero as its to far from the Magdalena islands and that's where you want to sail. Depending on when you arrive in the airport, there might be a direct bus to St Theresa or at least one into Sasari bus depot and on from there.

Re: Sardinia Charter

Thanks a million for the advice. We have booked from St Teresa, that seems to be a good base. For anyone's info, we got a 31' Beneteau Oceanis for a €1,000. I will post any recommendations.

Is anyone aware of any good websites for weather forecasts / useful marine sites? Ideally in English. I guess even wider Med sites might be useful as Italian websites are quite geared to locals.

Or any other guidance on conditions around the Madalena?

Much appriciated

Try the Passage Weather web site. There is Internet access in the Marina at St Theresa. Regards Joe
