Re: How much is this catamaran worth?

with a good scrub it would look a totaly different project ,
If the mast and motors are around somewhere it will be a bonus
$5000 after a better inspection
Good luck

Re: How much is this catamaran worth?

I think I'm usually pretty positive about projects like this, but as it stands, that boat is worth close to nothing.

It would take a lot of work to make a usable bare hull shell from it. Possibly about as much as starting from scratch.

It's doable, but a BIG project.

If you have a place you can work on the boat that doesn't cost anything, and you're prepared to put years into it, it could be viable.

Same for engines.
I would offer a symbolic value to the lady (5k?) and go for it.
Thanks for that link. Shared it with someone in Nova Scotia who is looking for a mast for his Tanzer 8.5

If you decide not to buy it, I would probably like to on inspection. I would pay a finders fee. I am in the Great Lakes area.

Re: How much is this catamaran worth?

Thank you for all the responses. If I was closer to the boat then I would seriously consider it. I was on a driving vacation when I found it and it is just too far away from my home. It is probably a solid boat and I would not mind doing the work if I was close enough to devote myself to it - if the engine is good. Besides that, I have not heard anything from the owner. I do not even know if the person I talked to gave the owner my information. For some reason she did not want to share the owner's information with me. I should probably be grateful that the decision is not mine to make and I will try not to think about it

Good to see some people are thinking. Pressure wash it and the 'value' would jump 5000.00...

"millstone round your neck" is the kraut-phrase that comes to my mind...
best advice: ask half the disposal-cost (minimum!)

Re: How much is this catamaran worth?

Looking past the water damage and grimy surface one can really see that at one time this was a nice boat. I once bought a big project boat like this and honestly by the time I had seen The whole thing through I had invested twice what I could have just bought a ready to go vessel.
But in the end I knew what I had and how everything was put together. I was able to upgrade most things above the original construction standard and I learned a great deal.
It’s been twelve years now and I have sailed this boat 1.5 times around the world. Given all that has now passed and knowing what I know now, I believe it was perhaps the best investment of my time and money I have ever made.
