Marine Air Conditioner

I’m looking at buying a compact marine air conditioner for my live aboard catamaran. I really wanted to buy a Marbru but they are not readily available in Australia. Can anyone suggest the most reliable brand that is readily available in Australia?
I’m looking at something between 12,000 -20,000 BTU that can be run on 12v or 240v and if possible variable speed.
Thanks

Re: Marine Air Conditioner

I have been advised to look for a variable speed unit such as the ones from Frigomar or Velair. Apparently they are way more efficient.

Try these guys located at “The Boatworks” Coomera.

Re: Marine Air Conditioner

The velair is a lot less money, and nearly as efficient even when factoring in the electrical conversion.

We'll be installing two of their 10k btu units soon.

Thanks for confirming the Velair is a good choice. Nice Catamaran you guys are building! I'm including the Maxcruise as a possib candidate.

Re: Marine Air Conditioner

Heat pump is the way to go - more efficient and works both ways (heater/cooler). There is a 12v one on Amazon

The wattage is the same as a Velair or a Marbru, but way less BTUs.

They seem to have their own brand “Stellair”.
Has anyone used them?
It doesn’t appear to be variable speed (which I would have preferred).

Thanks

Can anyone provide any feedback on this variable speed DC model?

Thanks

Re: Marine Air Conditioner

Is the Velair available in Australia? I couldn't find anyone selling it. (marinedirect show it, but they are not a business I care to deal with and I doubt they really sell them based on previous experience.)
