Transiting Panama canal-Colon to Panama City

That area is safe (well, except for the traffic) and outside Colon city proper. Other parts of the actual city are very bad. Even then, there are parts like the fresh market that are just fine.

Although it did not seem to be fast to the crew, the skipper was in a hurry, and we made very few stops, only for provisions and fuel, along the way. Remarkably, the crew and skipper never met before our first meeting in Panama!

You bet. I'm looking forward to another voyage, but, it will have to wait. First grandchild expected this summer!!
