Partner wanted for boat in SC

Good morning all - long time lurker, first time poster.

I want to do some coastal cruising in the southeast, leading up to a longer carribean cruise a few years from now. However, I have a young family and time is at a premium ... so it's hard to justify the cost of boat ownership considering my time constraints. I've been chartering locally but the inventory has decreased quite a bit recently.

I'd love to find someone interested in partnering on a boat. In general, I am interested in a turnkey 32-40' monohull, priced somewhere $50-100k, located in the southeast or Chesapeake Bay, to be berthed in South Carolina. Not interested in a project boat. And not really interested in some rare/custom boat. Also, the partner must be financially stable - paying cash for the boat and sharing expenses 50/50.

I realize this is a longshot but figured its worth posting. Thanks for reading!

IMHO, you're better off looking for a smaller, older boat for <$25K and sail is locally. A lot changes over time. There is zero reason to buy the boat you want to use to maybe cruise in 10+ years from now.

Lots of things change with young families.

Good advice to buy an older boat yourself to $25. Also: search this forum for strings about boat partnerships. All BAD! Really BAD! Get a pocket cruiser you can put on a trailer. Have fun when possible. Store it as needed. It’s what we did for 10 years THEN the stars aligned and we got a ‘big’ boat.
Enjoy!

Thank you for the replies, and I kinda knew that was the answer. Always good to hear other opinions.

Fair winds and following seas!

Poke around. During covid in NC had a Southern Cross 35. Not bad condition but he was getting older. He did not want to go through a survey and brokerage so he gave it away.

Also a long shot, but with a better outcome.
