1972 Westerly Centaur 26 ft. sailboat, these
boats were built in
England and made for the North Sea, very stout
Water boats">blue
water boats. These
boats only draws 3 ft. and have twin keels on each side, pretty unique, the tides can drop out 17 ft in
England and this allows the
boat to rest on the bottom evenly, allowing the owner to
survey the bottom or do a bottom job.
The
boat is powered by 9.9 tohatsu
4 stroke, that runs great and is good on
fuel. The bottom was completely redone in 2016, I grinded off all the
blisters and rebuilt up the bottom with
epoxy, put on multiple barrier coats of
interlux 2000, and anti foulant
bottom paint, petit. All the thru hulls and seacocks were replaced and new hoses and clamps were installed. The
rigging was also redone by Grant's
marine and new Wichard chain plates were installed. The
mast was completely rewired. A conduit was pop riveted to the
interior of the
mast and all new
led lights, anchor and steaming lights were installed along with new
wind vane and
vhf antennae.
The boat has a new
Jabsco head and a brand new full batten main, from Mac at south
sails. The
lifelines are also brand new.
All in all its a cool little boat that has basically been redone and
sails nicely, I have had many magical trips down south with her and it also has over 6' standing
head room.
The boat could stay in its
current slip for the monthly rental fee.
