What kind of battery do I have?

I just installed my new Victron BMV-602S but I need some specifics on my battery so I can program it. The guy at the shop where I bought it can't remember or find the record of my purchase but he said he thinks it's an Exide XXHD-M-27 which I found a few specs on here: http://www.labatteries.com/wp-conten...AL-5-15-11.pdf but it says "N/A" for the 20 hour capacity (I'm guessing because it's listed as a starting battery).

Here's a picture of the battery: and its dimensions are 20" L x 8" W x 7" H. (Which also doesn't match up with the XXHD-M-27 above.)

So if anyone could help me figure out what battery this is that'd be awesome! Even better would be telling me where I could find the specs I need to program my batter monitor (capacity, Peukert number, etc.)

Thanks!

There are several problems with that battery that you need to know about:
1. No OCPD present in any of the B+ wires.
2. Battery is not in a electrolyte containing battery box.
3. Battery is not secured from movement.
4. What is the brown residue around each of the fill caps?

Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorders are rare for B+ wires. That trait is more common with B- wires.

But seriously, how can you tell? There is only 3" or so of B+ wire showing in the picture. Our fuses are further away than that.

I was going with lack of battery straps. secondary hot leads direct off the battery. Better if you go direct to Atn then bus. Then secondary fuse. Strap the battery down. Not OCD

I'm not sure what 1 and 2 mean. OCPD=over current protection device? All of the smaller wires have fuzes that you can't see in the picture. The bigger wire I'm not sure about, but I'll look into it. #3 I know, I'm working on it. Just taking things one step at a time and for right now, the boat doesn't leave the lake. #4 it's antifreeze from a leaky hose I just fixed. I know, I know... I need to clean it up, lol.

Back to my original question. I sent that picture to the guy that sold it to me and he said it's an "American 8D 1300." Does that sound right? Any ideas on where I could get some detailed specs on it?

Re: What kind of battery do I have?

20x8 should be a 4d. 8 d is 20x11

if you can't find the exact numbers for that battery. just start googling ah for 4d batteries and pick an avg... probably around 180ah or so.

though if it's a starting battery and not deep cycle. it really should be drained much anyways.

you don't normally find ah ratings on a starter battery.
