Norcold TekII - DE Model Runs but not Cooling

Hello all... I am new here and need some advice. I bought a 2000 268 Fourwinns with a Norcold DE-451??? recently. The refrigerator runs but does not cool at all. Is there a replacement part that I can buy or a recharging kit for this unit?

Posibilities:

1. The compressor is siezed and the fan works. if it's seized - it's dead.

2. The compressor runs and the fans run. It could be out of collant. Before recharging it it might be best to find the leak first.

Probably be cheaper to haul his little guy in some place to have it checked out. It could be dead and at that point you would save the cost of a service call. A new one should run about $700.

Thanks Paul... Not the answer I wanted ;o) but pretty much what I thought. Can you tell me how I would go about recharging the refer?? Is it something that I can do or is it something I have to have a service tech do?

Just charging without finding out if it leaks is not money well spent if it leaks all the coolant again. I would first identify what part of the fridge is actually running. If it's not the compressor then it's dead. The fans often out last the compressor. You'll need to pull it out to really check it out in any case.

Once in a while a closer look revels details that explain the previously unknown. The "Oh now I see why" moment - priceless. It is better than tearing a head apart. There can be a bright side if you look for it.

Best just to relax - you are on the boat!

If you have to do a major repair or replace the NeverCold, several of my clients have had exceptional luck with the Tundra line from Dometic. Direct replacement for the NeverCold as far as size; cools VERY well; and uses a fraction of the power of the NeverCold.
