Re: My very livable electrical system

I still don't understand how the two inverters work in parallel. Unless two A/C sources are exactly synchronized, current flows from one to the other and back each cycle - a sure plan for a disaster - or at least a blown fuse.

What is your synchronizing secret?

https://www.victronenergy.com/invert...48v-800va-3kva

have to use inverters built for sync to run in parallel

I’m not totally sure what you mean, captstu, but the one designated master inverter controls the one designated as slave. Everything is automatic after that. Does that sound like what you’re asking?

I too have a Bauer Jr running off a gas engine to be switched out for an electrical engine. To reduce start up loads, simply open all the compression chambers bleed valves then close them one at a time which is easy.
1.5mm/ 0.060" wall tubing is what is mostly used around here.

True, and the Nardi does that automatically. I believe with the Bauer you still get quite a spike, but the frequency drive eliminates mine.

The secret is to use the Victron inverters that are designed to bank in parallel.

It’s an OC Tender. Pricing is right in line with or actually cheaper than an inflatable. Everywhere we go I find people staring at the dinghy or taking pictures.

Looks like a good install. JC put 900AH and 2100W of solar on our boat. I'd like to ditch the generator and put in more batteries. Still waiting for the money truck to arrive

Interested to know how you find the OC Tender and also your Breville Smart Oven Air?

I get it! 🤩. The batteries were the biggest song;e expense on the boat I think.

Currently we are in Grenada and I’m trying to get someone to install more solar. It’s work to get someone to work here! Still, once done I would never get rid of the generator because we pull so much power that I need it at least weekly to recharge.

In short, both are excellent.

The dinghy flies, feels stable (unless I’m the only one onboard and then it gets a little squirrelly) and usually keeps us dry. With a good breeze from starboard I do get wet from the spray. We’ve taken it a lot of places where inflatables can’t, I presume, like hauled up on a beach by myself. I got it caught under a dock when the stern anchor didn’t hold and while it scratched up the non skid in the front I didn’t have to rescue a deflated boat from the water. I was scolded by the manufacturers because I cut several holes in the edge of the deck which is structural, so I added aluminum plates behind for strength.

The Breville is fantastic. It cooks everything I need and substitutes as an oven, fryer (though I still prefer a pan and fat), toaster and microwave for reheating food. Obviously reheating is slower but it does taste better.
