Lagoon just posted new videos animations of the 40 and 50 on their website. They show a little more details than what have been shown so far.

I wish the 50' was a Sport Top... It looks like you'd need an extension ladder to reach the boom.

That video was enough to give you an epileptic seizure, like half a second per view

Check out the table

I am assuming that it has the ability to move back into a position to be a dining table??????

Should be interesting, I wonder if they will both be in Annapolis.

Re: New Lagoon 40 & 50 announced.

I own one of the 150 L42s you mentioned. I also have experience sailing (charter) on the L400, L450, L380 and versions of FP cats of similar size as well.

Like you said, the L42 design is meant to be sailed differently than the previous Lagoon designs. My experience is that she sails very well at good speed with the white sails in anything over 7 knots when reaching or pointing. I do generally use a code zero at angles that permit in lighter air and even up to around 15 knots depending on the angle. At that point, she feels overpowered and switching to the self tacker is more comfortable.

The new Lagoon designs are more difficult to compare against their competition. You really have to consider how each rig is meant to be powered and compare using the sail plan the rig was designed for. We did our comparison in that manner and have been very happy with the decision. I'm biased, but I would not trade the L42 sail plan for that of the L450 which I chartered in BVI last month. The L42 is better balanced, well powered and easier to manage. We looked closely at the FP Helia and Lipari prior to buying our L42. We also briefly looked at the FP Lucia, but it is too small for our needs.

If the new L40 and L50 are similar to the L42, I think they'll be popular.

One additional note. I'll have to take a closer look at the L39 when I get a chance. It seems very odd that the boom extends aft beyond roof deck. On the L42, you can easily work on the lines at the back of the boom standing on the deck.

Dont get me started on the build structure.
There needs to be another term for these things other than Catamaran it is embarrasing.
Have you sailed any of these vessels you admonish?
