Re: St Martin to W.Australia

Plan your passage through the west Pacific boatman. Fuel docks and decent shopping are thin on the ground. The only ones I know of are Vila and Honiara with nothing in between. I would suggest Vila because the fuel is cheaper and the shopping better.

You don't want to have to jerrycan 100 gallons or whatever.

Re: St Martin to W.Australia

cheapest fuel in the pacific is in pago pago ,american samoa, after panama and galapagos.

once you have got your canal transit date do all your shopping in colon, much easier than on the pacific side.

daru passage, starting at bramble cay is the easiest for getting thru torres straits.

Re: St Martin to W.Australia

USA pumps a lot of money into Pago Pago. Groceries are cheap too but every Samoan I ever met would rather live in Apia. You get the same in Majuro which is one seriously sad place.

There's gratitude for ya !

Have 600 gallons of fuel and 300 gallons of water... should see us good for the trip... both of us have been liveaboards on old boats in the past so are used to managing water well... did a 49day solo SXM to Salcombe with 90 litres of water and still had 20 at the end...

Re: St Martin to W.Australia

also hiva oa is good for a brief stop as no charges to be paid there.
check in with the gendarme in the village
you can stop in suvarov, without having to formally checkin to the cook islands.

chesterfield reef you can anchor there, just past new caledonia ,uninhabited

can anchor behind the wessel islands on the top end of aus as long as you dont land if seeking shelter for repairs.

Don't be silly....
Friends only... romance is/was a 90's thing and we are both to old and wrinkly to fancy each other...
but we do hunt well together with a good escape route when the unwanted come onto us....
'Oh... I'd love to but my wife's giving me the evil eye... thats her over there...'
and vicki verki....

Hey Phil,
I am here with my boat and 2 crew. I was at happy hour last night too. Perhaps you saw my crew playing music - the drummer and the guest guitarist with the singer.
I'll be there again tonight.
We will transit the canal on Sunday. Hope we run into each other. I'm in slip E32.
Margo
