Seems strange,,,i wonder if the Sats only do half fly overs.
I did a delivery from St.Martin to Marina Del Rey about 2 years ago.there
were gaps in the reception,maybe a couple of hours at the most but i
got coverage all the way around...
Good thing i did'nt need to go to Hawai..........

Which phone/handset is this?

The phone is a Qualcoom Globalstar.
Model :CXCLA051
It includes a built in Cellular phone.
The case is a Pelican water proof unit.
There is also a PC cable and 12 volt charger.
I used the unit earlier this year and had no problem with it,,,,i took a
3 month contract out with Global.

Its the 1600 model and i have normally just taken out a contract
when ever i needed it.
I have never asked about pay as you go,,,if you called Global,i'm
sure they could give you more details.

No problem posting it to you,just be sure that its the model you want.
if you were here in he states it would be easily re-turnable if you were
not happy with it.
If you are certain you want it,i will check on the postage and let you know
the total cost.

Yes I have. A 33 ft steel Pieter Beeldsnijder design. I intend to go to Scotland and outer Hebrides next season and I am sure that telcom connections via GSM are very limited up there. I have seen the model and that' s ok.
I will check with Global' s local representatives what are the options for a connection.
E-mail & internet would be not too bad at all.

I lived in Europe for 12 years and sailed the area extensively,including
the area you want to go to,,,,you have the right yacht for it also.
I have used the Sat.phone in Nova Scotia but that was as far north that
i took it.
What ever you do,,i hope you have a gr8 trip .
