Catamaran Wanted

I'm Looking to get a Sail Cat (30'+). I'd like to keep it under 50K.

Older Prouts and Catalacs, mostly.

It depends. There are sailing catamarans and cruising catamarans. A sailing catamaran doesn't necessarily have a cabin, head or galley where a cruising catamaran would. A sailing catamaran without a cabin, should be no problem. (Think Stiletto)

As for the pocket cruising catamarans, it's possible but it you might have to look at a lot of boats. A Catalac 10M recently sold for $70K and required a bunch of work. The older Prouts I've seen are in your price range but a lot of the decking would need to be replaced. A Catalac 8M would be in good condition and would be in the high $30K range with diesels, there is one for sale here ... a little less for one with an outboard. An old Iroquois 30 might also be around $30K.

There is an Americat 30 for sale which is $40K, and may be worth having a look at.

Re: Catamaran Wanted

Or if you have time the time and space some projects of 28+ feet cats can be completed, for less money but more time.
Good search sailor!

Re: Catamaran Wanted

Thanx every one for your input. I guess we are looking for a "pocket cruiser Catamaran" We have just bought a place on the gulf. My dock can hold a 50'+ sail boat and then some. So a little project wouldn't be out of the question.
