Beneteau 50

I want to buy a Beneteau 50. Manufacture date from 2000 to 2004. Not concerned at location of the yacht.

might want to look at a used Moorings boat. Friend bought one in 1999, 85k, sailed for 3 years and sold for 135. Was in very good condition when he bought it, just did bottom paint and spinnaker, that was mostly it for the 3 years, did bottom again and sold in 2 months in 2003. went up in value, he got a good deal,,,sailed with him for 6 months, boat was fast, only had a few scratches inside, engine hours were 4500 when he bought it, added about 500 hours to it, never leaked oil and compression was very good when it sold

Thanks for the info. I bought one from Moorings in france on 2006 and sold her when I got back to Oz. Mine was also a 1999 model.
I think they are the ideal boat for cruising. A bit slower than a cat but for crossing oceans they are very strong and safe.
I'm looking to do it again, maybe from Caribbean or maybe Croatia. Know much about passaging from Croatia back to Australia via Suez, maldives and SE Asia?

We have the 4-cabin version (plus crews quarters) and we love it. Great boat.

Regards,
Brad

Beneteau 505

Hey Brad. Thanks for the reply. Mine was a Moorings 505 as well. The Perkins M90. Also 4 cabin. No teak on the floor of the cockpit or teak on the deck. I bought her in France. Original name was MIKE. What was the original name of yours? From Tortola?

We have a Perkins Sabre as well, 85KW (or is it 85HP?). No teak up above either except on the swim platform. We are very fortunate to have a great boat. I plan to own her for 18 more years.

Regards,
Brad

Hey Brad.
Where do you live? I brought mine back to Australia but sold her about 2 years ago.

I used the Asym crossing the Pacific. It was a great sail in light winds. As you know the Ben 50 like 25KN+ to get going. 35Kn i just right. I made the mistake of leaving it up one night and of course the wind came up and I had to get it down. It got stuck so had to let the Headsail out to cover it to stop it filling. Eventually got it down. I learn't from that error. When I got back I had a sock made which made it a lot easier to get up and down.
